Title:  4th-8th School Social Worker

Office Schedule:  Ms. Smidt and I share an office.  I am at school on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Ms. Smidt is in our office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Years at OCCS:  2016 - present

Educational Background:  Bachelor of Social Work, Dordt College; Masters of Social Work, University of South Florida
Family:  Jason and I have 4 children and 2 sons-in-law. Kaelin & Caleb, Emily, Maggie & Cory and Leo.  Our children will soon live from coast to coast (Washington DC to Washington State), so we have lots of great places to visit!

Work background:  I have been blessed to work in a variety of settings using my social work degree. These jobs include being a case manager for both children and adults with severe mental illness, a case manager for families in protective services and foster care, and an advocate for victims of violent crime. At OCCS, I am the 4th-8th grade school social worker.

Faith statement:  In every experience in life, whether it is easy, hard or somewhere in-between, it is my desire to point others to God. His love never fails, His mercy is new every morning, and His presence gives strength and comfort. Most of all, He gave his Son so we could live with Him forever. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6) It is a blessing to serve and partner with the children, families and staff at OCCS!
