Education Background:  BA in Elementary Education (Special Education emphasis) from Dordt College:  M. A. from Lee University at Cleveland, Tennessee

Professional Experience:  From 1989-1995 I taught 6th grade at Redlands Christian School in California.  From 1995 - 1998 I taught middle school at Ontario Christian School in Ontario, CA.  My husband and I spent approximately 4 years teaching English at a university in China. From 2001 - 2002 I was a family teacher at Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska.  From 2002 - 2007 I taught middle school at Calvin Christian School in Edina, MN, serving also in administration there.

Family:  My husband, Bruce, is a professor in the communications department at Dordt College.  My son, Benjamin, will be in the 8th grade, and my daughter, Lindsay, will be in 3rd grade, both at Orange City Christian School.  We enjoy camping, playing games, and "hanging out" together.

Faith Statement:  One of the joys of teaching is sharing my faith and God's word with students.  I especially enjoy encouraging middle school students in knowing their Lord more fully and developing their faith walk.  I see God's presence and ownership over every part of our lives and hope to show students how God relates to things they are studying.  I also strive to show students how they can live lives of discipleship, serving God first with their gifts, and also serving those around them.
