Years at OCCS: 2007-to present

Education Background: BA in elementary education with a reading endorsement from Dordt College.

Professional Experience: From 1999-2000 I taught Kindergarten at Hospers Christian School. Then from 2000-2003 I taught a combination class of 3rd and 4th grade at Hospers Christian. Currently I am the K-5th physical education teacher at OCCS.

Family: My husband Nick and I live here in Orange City. Nick works at Noteboom Oil Co. as a sales manager and also spends time farming with his dad.  We have two boys ages 5 and 3 and are expecting our third child in October.  We are very excited to be sending our oldest son, Nicholas, to Kindergarten here at OCCS this year. Our family loves camping, spending time outdoors, and attending Dordt and Unity sporting events.

Faith Statement: I feel so blessed to be a part of the OCCS staff. The christian atmosphere that surrounds us every day is such a blessing. Being a physical education teacher, I feel I have a large responsibility at helping my students develop their natural God given talents, and to use their bodies in all manners to glorify God. The Bible verse that I like to encourage the students to memorize is found in 1 Corinthians 6:19&20 "Did you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you,whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price therefore honor God with your body."
