Years at OCCS: 2013 to present
Education Background: I received a BA in elementary education with a reading endorsement from Dordt College. I am currently getting my masters in teacher leadership from Dordt College and will graduate in the spring of 2019.
Professional Experience: Beginning in 2009 through 2013, I taught a combination classroom of third and fourth grade at Ireton Christian School. I was also the girls volleyball and basketball coach during those years. This year will begin my ninth year of teaching and my fifth year teaching at OCCS. Over the last four years I taught fourth grade two separate years and fifth grade two years. This year I will be teaching 5th grade math, social studies, and 8th grade Bible.
Family: My husband Jeremy and I live here in Orange City. Jeremy is an eighth grade homeroom teacher at Sioux Center Christian School and teaches Math and Language Arts. We have three sons, Gavin who is in first grade at OCCS, Parker who is four, and Sawyer who is two. Our family loves to be outdoors and travel during the summertime to visit our families in Illinois and Montana.
Faith Statement: I feel very blessed with the opportunity to not only teach, but also be a part of the OCCS community. Christian education has been an integral part of my upbringing and I love that I have the chance to help other families bring their children up in the same way. This is a job and a calling where I hope to help students learn academically while preparing them for a life of service for the Lord.
