Groups: Elementary

Years At OCCS: 1991-to present

Education Background: BA Elementary Education 1975 from Northwestern College.

Professional Experience: From 1991 - 2012 I taught 4th grade at OCCS. Previous to that, God prepared me for this position by working at K-Products, NW College Printing and Machines, and De Vries Draperies. This provided me with diversity in experiences and opportunities.  My children were in grades 4 and above when God opened the door for me at OCCS.  In 2011, after completing 20 years in the 4th grade classroom, I made a change to where I hope to use the gifts God has given me in teaching.  I "gave up" the full-time classroom for working with individuals and small groups on remedial math and reading. I now work in 1st grade - 4th with math, and 4th language Arts.  It has been a big change, but I am really enjoying it!

Family: My husband Steve and I have three married children with 7 grandchildren, and we are thankful that they all live within an hour drive. We are very thankful that we are able to spend lots of time with our grandchildren. We live on a farm north of OC and we operate a sheep feedlot.

Faith Statement:  God is Lord of All!  Hebrews 11:1-3  "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."  I am so grateful that God has blessed us with this beautiful world to live in!  We can see God in EVERYTHING around us!  I am blessed to be able to teach at OCCS, with gifts given to me by God, and in partnership with parents who want their covenant children to be able to know God and live in His hope.  Teaching about this awesome God and all He has created for us to use, care for, and enjoy is a privilege for me.  Not only am I able to help to plant seeds and nurture young minds and lives, I am able to grow spiritually myself every day that God gives me here at OCCS!
